Amber Härkönen has been a Fair Trade Advocate with the NYC FTC since 2014. Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, where she earned her degree in Fashion Design and enjoyed a career spanning Montreal and Toronto as a fashion designer and product developer, Amber sought to further position herself where she could apply her efforts and experience toward improving corporate ethics and sustainability within the luxury market. This led her to the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC where she completed her B.S. Summa Cum Laude in Textile Development and Marketing. Collaborating with two colleagues to create FIT's Rooftop Natural Dye Garden, her team won the honor of being the first group of student's from FIT to take part in the Clinton Global Initiative University in 2014. Now, as merchandiser for one of the last remaining full-canvas domestic manufacturers; Hickey Freeman Tailored Clothing, Amber is passionate about volunteering her free time with the NYC FTC.
