Sustainable Fashion Community Center FAQ
1. What are the benefits of the Sustainable Fashion Community Center (SFCC)?
View the benefits for a guest pass or monthly membership to the Sustainable Fashion Community Center here.
2. What is the additional fee for the SFCC? Why?
The guest pass fee is for a ticket to the Swap Shop located within WeWork Times Square. You can bring gently used items you no longer want (or nothing at all!) and swap during shop hours from our closet.
3. How do I pay for my Sustainable Fashion Community Center membership?
First, you must be a NYC Fair Trade Coalition member (join here). Once you are a member, you will gain access to our members-only shop where you can purchase your Sustainable Fashion Community Center membership via Paypal.
4. Does the NYC FTC membership get me access to swap shop whenever it’s open?
The basic NYC FTC membership does not. For access to the Swap Shop, you can buy a guest pass or purchase a Sustainable Fashion Community Center membership via our members-only shop. Find more info here.
5. Does the NYC FTC membership get me access to all Masterclasses?
Sustainable Fashion Community Center Member Responsibilities
6. How do I get into the Sustainable Fashion Community Center once I pay?
You must send a calendar invite to email@example.com with your name, time, date when you will come (must be before 6pm). When you get to WeWork, check in at the desk with your ID, and look up your host (Andrea B. Reyes or NYC Fair Trade Coalition) to complete check-in. If you have any issues, please call the dedicated phone line at 917-724-6530.
7. What does “host a meeting” mean?
You may invite 4 people or less to meet you in one of the public spaces at WeWork for a business meeting.
8. What does “host an event” mean?
If you are inviting more than 4 people, you’ll need to book a conference room for the group for an additional fee. The price ranges from $25-50 an hour based on time and size of the room. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for this option. This option is available for SFCC members to take advantage of in any WeWork location.
9. What are my responsibilities as a Sustainable Fashion Community Center member?
You must send a calendar invite to email@example.com with your name, time, date when you will come (must be before 6pm).
We would appreciate if you could volunteer one day a week at the Swap Shop. Doing this outside of the current hours (MWF 1-5pm) will allow us to add hours to the Swap Shop. You can work in or around the Swap Shop and may provide “office hours” for your expertise — for example, Elizabeth Stilwell (our Web Manager) will be offering office hours for members to discuss their websites with her.

10. What is the Swap Shop Guest Pass?
Not sure about committing to a month? Just in town to visit? Come for the day, swap away, and hang out in the Sustainable Fashion Community Center. If we are having one of our monthly meetings that day, stay for it too!
11. How do I get in with a Swap Shop Guest Pass?
Choose a day to visit and buy a ticket via Eventbrite. You will be added to the guest list for the day and can check in when you arrive at WeWork. If you have any issues, email Advocates@nycfairtradecoalition.org
12. Is there anything else going on at the Swap Shop?
We are planning to add an exciting menu of events as we grow! Style Fridays, where a stylist is on hand to help you choose and style items, is one of our first. If you have a cool idea for an event or collaboration, email us here.
13. What will happen to the swap stuff you don’t want?
Have no fear, we will never throw any of it away. As we grow, we will use a variety of options like Goodwill (one of our members), ThredUp, and Housing Works to donate and/or downcycle items.
